Exactly how many times do I have to say it to make it real? After a wonderfully negative finish last week, things were looking up Saturday morning. I made the decision to move my long run to Sunday and go for my first bike ride in months on Saturday instead. I got in a refreshing 22 miles in the hour that I had, and was quite pleased with how things were going.....until that evening. That's when my throat started to hurt. You have to be kidding me. Yep, sure enough, things were pretty bad by the next morning and I was forced to skip my run. I've pretty much written off any chance for a PR at the Gobbler Grind at this point.
I don't want to be captain negative here, so I'll try to point out the positive in these less-than-ideal situtations. For instance, while I missed my run over the weekend, I did get to eat ice cream. Yay! And for bonus points, it doesn't look like I have swine flu! Unfortunately, I'm not positioned for a good recovery week. I had to leave for work at 3:30am today. Ouch. Getting here by 8:00 is hard enough. Buuuuut, on the plus side, I got to park within a couple hundred feet of the door (trust me, that's a big plus). So here I am...tired and on-call until next Monday. And I have a project I need to get finished, so I'll probably work late and most of one day this weekend. Buuuuut....I did close a request that was nearly 3 years old this morning (yes, we move at the speed of IT - inbred turtle), so I feel pretty accomplished.
I'm going to go home now so I can try out a little run and follow it up with some more ice cream...and maybe some chocolate. Don't forget to stop by and sign up for the Windows 7 giveaway. This week is better.

Impressive on the 22 miles in hour! Glad your week is going better at least a little bit! ice cream makes everything better. Also, congrats on the deal 3 years is a long time...Well don't work too hard this week and never ever rule out a PR maybe you are just extreme tapering ;)
WOWza.... 22 mph? I'm still pumped when I can crank out 18 mph!
You still have time for GG. The trick will be to not go out too fast since your taper will be a super taper. You'll have all sorts of pent up energy that will be ready to bust out.
Hi - I just found your blog. Sorry about the sore throat and rough week. I think sometimes our best performances come when we have the most obstacles to overcome. You'll get that PR yet. Love the tweet about the U.S. bid for the World Cup!
